So, hey, guess what? The folks behind The Black Tapes Podcast and Tanis have a new podcast for us. Called Rabbits, it debuted today on Pacific Northwest Stories’ sister network, the Public Radio Alliance. In it, we’ll be hearing from a new voice, that of producer Carly Parker, whose bio tells us cut her teeth at PRA as an intern in college and later worked for the network as an associate producer; we’ll also probably hear some other voices with which we’re already familiar throughout the run of the show, like Nic Silver’s.

Here’s the description from the Rabbits site:
“When Carly Parker’s friend Yumiko goes missing under very mysterious circumstances, Carly’s search for her friend leads her headfirst into [an] ancient mysterious game known only as Rabbits. Soon Carly begins to suspect that Rabbits is much more than just a game, and that the key to understanding Rabbits, might be the key to the survival of our species, and the Universe, as we know it.”
My sense is that Rabbits going to appeal to a lot of you, Gentle Readers — both those of you who dig all those games you shouldn’t play, and those of you who are fascinated by things like Cicada 3301. I also suspect that folks who are into ARGs will find this one to be in their wheelhouses.
Like The Black Tapes and Tanis, Rabbits is going to be a bi-weekly podcast; new episodes will become available every other Tuesday. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it myself yet — I found out about it earlier today thanks to the Black Tapes mailing list — but I’m going to load up episode one when I hit the gym tomorrow, so stay tuned for some first impressions.

EDIT 3/1: Holy cow, you guys. I dashed this post off in about 15 minutes last night just intending it to be a quick, “hey, this might be cool” kind of heads up thing, and now it has gotten so much traffic that I regret not having had the time to provide more details. If you are just finding your way to The Ghost In My Machine, welcome! If you are a returning visitor, welcome back! Either way, thank you for your patronage! I’m planning on jotting down some thoughts about the first episode of Rabbits over the weekend, so check back on Monday if you’re interested in reading about Wot I Thought. (Or, y’know, don’t if you’re not; totally your call.)
EDIT 3/6: As promised! Click through for some thoughts on the first episode.
EDIT 3/20: If you like Rabbits, you might also like a few of these other things.
