Childhood memories can be tricky. We don’t develop the ability to actually form memories until we’re a few years old, and even then, the memories we do form can be hazy. The creepypasta “The Doorless Room In My Old House” capitalizes on the unreliability of childhood memories… though it also underlines that sometimes, they’re more reliable than you might think.
It just might not become clear why until…

From the same author as “Dead Mall,” Creepypasta Wiki user Digigekko, aka Ian Dean, “The Doorless Room In My House” was published to the Creepypasta Wiki on the very first day of 2026, after its appearance a few days earlier on the main Cold Relics site. It is, like the “Dead Mall” trilogy, terribly effective, and well worth your time.
I’ve mentioned a few times how much I enjoy stories that involve spaces not behaving as they should. A lot of the time, that means there’s something otherworldly at play — that is, that we’re looking at a sort of TARDIS-style, bigger-on-the-inside situation. Think House Of Leaves or We Used To Live Here — that kind of space.
That’s not always the case, though.
There are also stories about places — buildings — houses — where the architectural plan doesn’t match the actual space, but not because of interdimensional weirdness or anything like that. It’s because there’s something hidden there. Because something was hidden, by people.
Something those people didn’t want anyone else to find.

…In the summer of 2025, a large house just outside of a small town in northern New Hampshire went on the market. I’d been watching and waiting for years, because it was where I grew up. I was even born there, after my mother suddenly went into labor a month before I was due.

… It so happens that one of my old school buddies never left the area, and works at the real estate agency that is now trying to sell it. I wasn’t sure if I’d buy it, and if I did, if I would try to flip it, rent it out, or just stay for a year until the warm glow of nostalgia faded and I was ready to truly say goodbye to it and my formative years. My friend, though, was kind enough to let me pay it a visit so that I could see the two-story old manor… without giving into an impulse buy just so I might have a chance to spend a day there.
I wondered if I would have enough time to find that room. Or prove once and for all that it either existed, or did not.
