Stories of the Strange and Unusual

Creepypasta Of The Week: “Don’t Go Gazing”

January 19, 2026 by Lucia

Previously: “I Bought My Son A Bucket Of Slime For Christmas…”

What happens when you do something taboo… and then stumble upon other people doing something more taboo? Something that perhaps moves beyond taboo and into more dangerous territory? That’s what the narrator of the creepypasta “Don’t Go Gazing” finds out, and, well… let’s just say that they very much regretted their decisions. Some things, once you’ve seen them, you cannot unsee.

Written by Creepypasta Wiki user Kimberchance, it won the Pasta Of The Month award for May 2025 shortly after it was posted. It’s got lots of tropes and themes I love to see in creepypasta in particular — someone trying to get the word out about something unexplained and/or dangerous, an internet-based framing device, elements of a space not behaving quite as it should, and so on.

If you’re wondering what “gazing” is, the story defines it pretty early on — but basically, it’s peeping Tom-type activity taken to something of an extreme. I probably don’t have to say it but I will anyway: Don’t do that.

There’s a reason the narrator of “Don’t Go Gazing” is, well… telling you not to go gazing.

Check out an excerpt below, and read the full story over at the Creepypasta Wiki.

This is a copy of something I’ve written and posted all over the internet. The websites, subreddits, and Discord servers relating to the hobby have long been found and shut down. There aren’t many of us anymore, let alone those both young, sane, and tech-savvy enough to navigate the internet, but I know for a fact that all of my old friends that may or may not still “gaze” still frequent these sites. For obvious reasons, I’d rather not go back into direct contact with them.

This is also a general warning for anyone in the state of Utah: Do NOT go gazing near Park City.

Two things, in case anyone gets curious enough to look it up and not take my warning seriously:

Gazing is watching people in their homes. Never interacting, never doing anything to affect a person or their property. It’s illegal, of course, but most of the people that gaze do so from outside of the property. They use this as a legal and moral excuse to justify their curiosity, though most of the hobbyists claim that as long as you’re on public property you aren’t breaking any sort of law just by watching someone’s house.
