Remember “This Man?” Well, if you liked that one — or, more specifically, the aspect of it where it involves a lot of people independently dreaming about the same weird thing — you might like the creepypasta “Gloom House.” Credited to the prolific KI Simpson of “Dead Bart” fame, it asks you to imagine a house; then it asks you if you’ve ever dreamed this house before.
If you have, you may have a certain set of memories attached to the dream.
Whether you’re still around to remember them, however, depends on how far you got in the dream… and what your actions may have been while you were dreaming.

Like another KI Simpson story, “Lightless City,” I’ve been unable to access the URL of its original source, but given when KI Simpson’s creepypasta writing was most active, it’s a fair assumption to make that “Gloom House” probably first appeared sometime around 2010. The oldest version of it I’ve been able to find is a republication over at the now-defunct Blogspot blog Inu’s Creepy Stuff, where it was posted on Jan. 15, 2011; it also first appeared on the Creepypasta Wikia around this time, uploaded by user XanCrews on March 23 of that same year.
Whenever it did first arrive, though, it’s got all the hallmarks of a good KI Simpson story: It’s brief, but not too brief; it’s got an engaging premise; and it’s got a stinger of an ending that’ll stick with you. Note, though, that you may want to check out the content warnings before you click through to read the rest — those are at the bottom of the page here.
Have you dreamed this house?

Think back, and see if this image matches up with any of your memories: a big, old fashioned living room, lots of antique chairs, candle holders, expensive china, things like that.
The objects in the room have a bluish tint, and there’s a big staircase across from the door. There are large windows, but the blinds are closed.
The only light source is a faint amount of daylight shining through the curtains, but it’s a grey, rainy day. Does that seem familiar? If not, you’re one of the lucky ones.
(CW: Brief implication/mention of suicide.)
