This isn’t so much creepy as it is sad and melancholy. As each person in the once booming village of Nagoro, also known as the Valley of Dolls, dies, 64-year-old doll maker Ayano Tsukimi makes a life-sized doll of the deceased and places it somewhere that was important to that person. “Now there are only 37 people here,” she says, “and many times more dolls.”
But it’s also a little creepy.
