Previously: The Three Kings.
It is believed that the Midnight Game was once an old pagan ritual used as a punishment for those who dared to disobey the gods. Or at least, that’s how it’s usually positioned; the claim is dubious, and likely an indication that this particular game originated as creepypasta. (The oldest version of it I’ve been able to find on the internet dates back to August of 2010, for whatever that’s worth.) Still, though, it’s become a popular activity for thrill seekers, largely because it’s easily performed in your own home with minimal supplies.

As with all of Most Dangerous Games, proceed at your own risk – if you must proceed at all. It is recommended that you do not, under any circumstances, play this game.
Players:
- At least one principal.
Requirements:
- One candle.
- A lighter or book of matches.
- A piece of paper.
- A writing implement.
- A pin, sterilized.
- A wooden door, closed.
- Salt
Instructions:
The Invitation:
- Begin prior to midnight.
- Write your full name – first, middle, and last – on the piece of paper with your writing implement. Prick your finger with the pin and squeeze until a drop of blood appears. Dot the blood on the paper and allow it to soak in.
- Turn off every light in your home.
- Place the paper with your name and blood on it in front of the closed wooden door. Light the candle using the matches or lighter and place it on top of the paper. If you are using a taper, make sure it is placed in a candle holder .
- Knock on the door 22 times. The final knock must occur precisely when the clock chimes 12am. Open the door; then blow out the candle and close the door.
- Relight your candle immediately.
The Main Event:
- Keeping your candle in hand and your salt and matches or lighter close by, begin to move about your home.
- Should your candle go out, you must relight it within the next ten seconds. If you are successful, continuing moving about your home. Do not stop moving until 3:33am.
- If you are unsuccessful in relighting the candle, immediately surround yourself with a circle of salt. Remain inside the circle until 3:33am.
The Ending:
- At 3:33am, it is safe to stop moving or to step outside your circle of salt. You may also turn on the lights. The game is over.
Additional Notes:
The Midnight Game may be played with more than one player. In this instance, all players are principals; as such, each player must perform the Invitation individually.
The Invitation welcomes an entity known as the Midnight Man inside your home. The goal of the game is to avoid meeting the Midnight Man in the dark. Continually moving about your home will make it more difficult for him to find you; should you stop moving at any point, he will catch you. Accounts differ as to what befalls players caught by the Midnight Man. Some claim he will induce a hallucination of your worst fear until the end of the game; others claim he will remove your organs one by one. Both outcomes are to be avoided at all cost.
Indications that the Midnight Man is near include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Sudden drops in temperature.
- The sound of a soft whisper with no discernible source.
- The appearance of a humanoid figure within the darkness.
- The candle going out.
Should you experience any of the first three occurrences, leave the area immediately. Should you experience the fourth occurrence, following the previously given instructions, re: relighting the candle within the next ten seconds, will keep the Midnight Man temporarily at bay. Should you fail to perform this action correctly, the circle of salt will do the same.
Do not fail to do either. There are no known methods to abort the game.
At 3:33am, the Midnight Man will leave your home. After he has left, you may safely end the game.
Do NOT turn on any lights during the game.
Do NOT use a flashlight during the game.
Do NOT go to sleep during the game.
Do NOT use a lighter instead of a candle during the game.
Do NOT use a person’s blood other than your own during the game.
Do NOT attempt to leave your home during the game.
Do NOT attempt to provoke the Midnight Man during the game.
And most importantly: Do NOT assume that the Midnight Man has left your home for good at the conclusion of the game.

Okay I’ve heard about this game before but as much as I want to play this I don’t wanna die plus how am I suposed to play if my parents never let me stay at home alone. Plus what if the last knock is past or not even at twelve. And what if the salt doesn’t work like it says it does.
Thats all but (WARNING:NEVER PLAY FOR YOUR SAFETY AND YOUR LOVED ONES.BUT IF PLAYED DON’T MESS UP RELIGHTING THE CANDLE AND THE SALT
bobbo says
me reading the don’ts
don’t sleep
don’t taunt
don’t use cheating items
my brain: it doesn’t say no singing can’t touch this, sooooo…
DatOneGirl says
i have a question, what happens if you in the salt circle and you see a shadow figure or the other signs that he’s near?
Moldy_soup says
he could try and scare you, but i am sure he cant do anything else then try and get you out of the circle without touching you because he cannot get anywhere in the circle of salt
Taylor Salee says
What happens if you need to go to the bathroom during the game?
skazka says
LMAOO i was abt to ask this
kid says
OMG I WATCHED THE SAME VIDEO
Arya says
What if my friend was playing The Midnight Game at one house and I was playing it at the same time in another house? Would there now be two Midnight Men? Would he switch between houses? Would he only go to one of the games? Would he just not show up at all? If two Midnight Men were created, and the two houses became connected without either player leaving the house, could you get the two Midnight Men to fight each other? Would they team up? Would they become lovers?
Am I overthinking this?
Trio 98 says
Yooo ! I was literally thinking of that
Hailey says
Guys, if you scroll up all the way up top you’ll see many people have played this game before. Please do not try, as much as I want to play this game, I don’t wanna get hurt. I love horror movies and scary things, but to play a game that is actually real is to much for me.
Here is some answers to answer some of ya guys question.
1, If you have a friend or family member sleeping in their room they will get hurt either way.
2, If you play this game and you have family members that are not playing, they will get haunted by the midnight man
3, If you break the rules you’ll get hurt and haunted easily. You won’t be safe anymore in till you replay the game and actually finished it.
4, And if you are playing this, I would say yes your house has to be empty no one can sleep or just sit around while they not playing. They have to agree to play this or the midnight man will haunt you and hurt you for good.
5, I mean you can play the game in your garage but you have to walk AROUND all of your house INSIDE. So I wouldn’t think it will work if you play the game in your garage.
6, Last question for today & answer, if your father is watching TV and sitting around, and you playing the game inside your house. The midnight man will come after your father, he has to agree to play with you either way.
I hope this answers all of ya guys questions, again do not play this game, you will be hurt, this is not a joke guys once you play this game, you’ll never forget that day you play it…
Amelia says
Can I play this with my friend? bc it seems more fun. also does my house HAVE to be empty?
Blake says
Yes, as long as they’re ok with it
fangirl_screaming says
1-yes, you can play with your friends. it says at least 1 participant. you all have to do the ritual thing at the beginning
2-it does not have to be empty of furnitures but is MUST be free of both animals and people.
Vega says
Yes you can. There should not be anyone else in the house while you’re playing. Not even pets as they will be targeret by the MM too. Again if you’re not familiar with all the rules i suggest you to not play this game. I don’t know if it’s real because i have not tryed playing it but it may be real so stay safe if you do play it.
Amelia says
OMG I WISH
Ashlee says
Are you able to do it in a garage? Because that is the only place I could, because my house is about 100 years old and my mom don’t want that in our house
benjamin says
no they could do it again and try to get the friend back.
Kelsey says
Ok, so I’m writing a story and my characters are doing this ritual. Say if one of them gets caught and killed (I’m a sane writer I promise) does that end the game for all of them?
skazka says
wait that book sounds so cool can i have a link ??
Weary whiths says
So if my father is playing a game on his TV and he’s in the living room, what would happen?
benjamin says
he would get caught.
earn to die 2012 hacked says
Useful info. Lucky me I found your website accidentally, and I am stunned why this coincidence did not came about in advance!
I bookmarked it.
Someone says
I might be laughed at for making references to Christianity/The Bible here, but a lot of this game’s symbolism reminds me of mark 13:35.
“It is like a man going on a journey who left his house, put each servant in charge of his own task, and instructed the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35: Therefore keep watch, because you do not know when the master of the house will return— whether in the evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or in the morning. 36: Otherwise, he may arrive without notice and find you sleeping…”
The idea that you’re supposed to stay awake, that the “master” of the house may return at midnight and find you sleeping (as the midnight man presumably does if you sleep during the game).
Dunno what it means. Probably a coincidence. But it’s an interesting one.
Grant says
So if I were to create a demon snare circle, would I potentially be able to create safe spaces/traps for the midnight man?
Aleina Hansen says
Can you play this game inside your apartment?
Arya says
Yes, you’d just be screwing over everyone else in the apartment. And you’d become the “weird neighbor” for walking around at night with a candle and a bag of salt.
ISurvivedTheLittleFinger says
I’ll answer your questions:
. What happens if two people summon him? Nothing. Only one person can play.
. If you go to a church, he’ll probably still get you.
. What if you start and move somewhere else? The
scarecrow will get you. No offense, but that’s kinda stupid because then you won’t have closed anything in this new area, and The Man in the Fields can easily kill you. Also, I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t leave because then he won’t have to go into your house. He’ll either still get you, or the ritual won’t work.
. What do you do in the meantime? Wait, I guess.
I DO NOT suggest playing this game. It’s like the Midnight Game and Dry Bones; there’s a good chance that, if it’s real, you’ll die. So if you play, good luck.
Amelia says
*plays because im curious*
Rashdilawari says
I have a question??
What we have to do in the meantime after the arrival of the demon? I mean from 12:00 Am to 3:33 AM??
Bruce says
What about if you start the game and never finish, but move somewhere else?
Shelbert says
So can you hide in a bathroom with salt around you and just wait it out? Also can you talk if you do it with someone? Planning on doing it so pls answer.
@mikroRkives on twt says
I’ve watched people play this game on youtube and I have a serious question about one of the rules. So the wooden door thing… A youtuber I watched, Sam Goldbach, had the candles behind the wooden door instead of in front. Would that mean he did it wrong and was faking it or it doesn’t really matter as long as the door is wooden?? I also want to make sure I don’t have the facts wrong because I plan on writing a story on this game.
Adam says
what would happen if you would play it in a church? would the Midnight man come or not come?
Aleina Hansen says
Does it have to be a white candle or can it be any color?
Adam says
any color
RavenclawGirl03 says
Okay, so I am writing a story about the Midnight Game and I just wanted some outsiders experiences while they played the game, like what happened. I have my own experiences playing this game, I just want to see if people had different instances where other things happened.
GhostWriter? says
Dang… But why would you get attacked by a spirit/ ghost for no reason?
sammy says
going off previous answers, no. only one person can play at a time, or nothing would happen.
Damian says
If two people summoned him at once would he be at both houses?
Andrew says
Don’t do this. I grew up in a town that was >300 yrs old. It had ghosts. Unfortunately, I ran into at least two of them in my youth. They came after me, I did nothing to provoke them. When I was 5, in a 250 y.o. house attic on a summer night a peg leg ghost came across the floor of the room outside my bedroom. He rang an old, broken grandfather clock 12 times before coming across the floor to my room. I was quaking with fear. When he come down the hallway to my room my teeth chattered, just like in the cartoons. I didn’t hear him enter my room and eventually fell asleep. Years later I was frequently getting cut and bruised on one area of my left calf. As years went by veins began spidering or popping out there until there was a distinct pattern. It is the pattern of a thumb. It is in a shape and location indicating the thumbprint was made while I was laying down, from a person standing beyond my feet. IOW, at the foot of my bed. Like someone grabbed my leg below the knee and left a thumbprint. I have it to this day 50 years later. It is still there and still with a mild, continual pain.
The second ‘ghost attack’ occured a few years later when I was 12. I was riding my bike home from school, down our street to get an ice cream sandwich at a drugstore as I frequently did. I passed our house (a different house but still in the old part of town). I was going fast because it is down hill until it comes to a perpindicular cross street. I did this often and know just when to hit the pedal breaks to stop at the bottom. Just past our house is a creepy, old mid-1800s house. It always gave me the creeps. It was not occupied. As I passed this house I was struck most forcefully in the center of my back, between the shoulder blades. I went forward and almost hit the handlebars with my chin. I was hurt and the breath nearly knocked out of me. I braked but was not able to stop at the bottom. I went across the street and hit the curb at the far side. I was so shocked at this I picked up my bike and ran back up the hill to my house pushing the bike. I ran inside our house to the first floor bathroom, pulled up my shirt and turned to look at my back in the mirror. I had a large, red handprint in the middle of my back, right where I’d been hit. It was very distinct and I could make out each finger in the large imprint. The handprint was unnaturally large, like 8-10 inches top to bottom and the fingers were closed. Years later this is where my back was broken in the Army. It seems to attract angry or hateful people as when I’ve been struck by a drunk or malicious person they usually aim for that spot. The injury put me out of the Army and I live in daily pain from it.
I’ve lived with these two ‘encounters’ with ghosts nearly my whole life. I did nothing to warrant these injuries and was not disrespectful or taunting or tempting in any way beforehand or afterwards. Sometimes things are just bad, without any redeeming quality, bright side or silver lining. I cannot fathom that someone would want to seek out a ghost, demon or whatever out of curiosity a dare, etc. As a kid I never doubted that ghosts exist and never sought them out or dared them. I encountered them anyways contrary to my intent. I live with the pain and disability I believe is the result of their unwelcomed and unwanted contact as a child.
This is your warning from a good samaratan who was attacked by ghosts twice as a child and still carries the scar and pain.
Huffle Puffle says
Ok, so I never had played this game and let say that I talk to spirits, and that I drug myself to more kind of contact them more to be more in a conversation with them. By doing that, I like to provoke, I’m the kind of person that likes to provoke a lot and I like to hurt myself or the spirit hurting me.
If I play this game and really want to not play the game normally, I really want to provoke him to the maximum, what can really happen to me?
And later, if my candle stop lighting and i don’t want to relight it in the ten seconds, since I am a curious person and like really strong suspense without having fear of dying, what can really happen to me?
Because I don’t see much anyone explaining this and it is really worth it to try the experience, will it be like a good suspense of doing it or it will be different.
Midnight says
It is said that if you surround yourself with a circle of salt that you did not fully complete the game and you have to do it again to get rid of him. If you are not in any danger with him I would recommend not surrounding yourself with salt but if you are in danger by all means surround yourself.
ali says
Is it safe to leave the house during the game?
If not. Then what he will do to the player?
Midnight says
By all means DO NOT leave the house. He will haunt/ maybe kill you if you leave.
Oof says
If there is more than one participant, do all players need to knock on the door at once or will one person suffice?
Kailyn says
So me and some friends want to play, and we understand the invitation part, but do we have to relight the candle the first time it goes out? Could we not just stay in a big circle of salt and not worry about the candle all night? Would that anger him? Would he be able to get us? Do we have to have separate circles of salt? Sorry if I seem needy I might come back with more questions
Robert Hancock says
What if I blew out my friend’s candle as we are in the game?
As a joke like…
fangirl_screaming says
nah fam, i don’t recommend doing it. this is something serious.
Will says
I’m going to do it!
Elizabeth Fish says
This game was really fun but also kinda creepy. I played it with my best friend and all the stuff in his room flew off of walls and shelves. We still are trying to figure out what it was.
Reeanna says
Would you suggest playing this game in a old house with ghosts already living in it??
Diana says
If you have no choice but to draw a circle of salt around yourself, will you be able to sit?
fangirl_screaming says
if it’s big enough, yes.
Madison says
Would saliva or some other bodily fluid besides blood work?
fangirl_screaming says
nope, it has to be blood.
chloe says
if you are in the room as your friend playing will you be harmed if you don’t participate??!!
Coby says
its just like a ouija board. if someone is there not playing then it wont work.
Coby says
he may not be able to get to you but he can convince you. don’t just automatically put the salt down then he will mess with you and make you break the circle.
Coby says
not one thing in that is smart. if you decide to play the game just play it. if you cant handle it then dont bother.
Jupiter-chan says
No. That’s counted as a light source and therefore against the rules. DON’T DO IT.
Destanie says
If you turn in the lights he will kill you instantly so I don’t think that’s a good idea. Just don’t play the game
LoneComa says
If your playing with multiple people and one gets caught with the MM wait for the outside the circle assuming they made it in time or will the MM just continue hunting the other players and try to come back for the salt person later?
LoneComa says
I know this post is old but If I can still ask a few questions when relighting the candle, do you stop to relight it or do you keep moving while relighting it? Also what if 2 different people in 2 different houses perform the invitation at the exact same time, will the MM appear to both at once or is it one at a time only?
Kingpin says
1). I would suggest staying moving. You don’t want to be found.
2). I would assume that he would appear at both because it implies that there are no “ritual failed” flags.
Serenity says
Just so you guys know… If you try to abort the game by turning on the lights and such, the Midnight Man won’t leave. I played this game before and I found out that the Midnight Man could invite demons into my home and haunt me until I got my house blessed and purified. I even had to play the game again to get the Midnight Man out of my house. Please do not play this game unless you one, know how to play the game properly, two, you can make wise decisions, and three, you have a strong will to finish the game. One of my friends almost died playing this game so please stay safe.
Midnight Man says
I will find all of you.
Magic Kingdom Snake says
Well I mean,
You can try?
Serenity says
Please do
Nyssa says
Ok so Imma list some things that happen if you break the rules…
Lights on= he knows where you are and he will most likely physically hurt you…
Sleeping during the game = Vivid hallucinations of I’ve heard he will suck the air out of your lungs
Leaving your house= my friend once tried to leave the house and the second she stepped out she fainted
Making him mad = can cause him to haunt you :/
Switching peoples blood will make him go after the other person and then you
I’ve never actually had to use the salt circle I’ve also heard the more you play this game the more aggressive he gets but idk if that’s true
~Nyssa Heir to the Demon
Ava says
Ok I’m writing a story about the Midnight Game. Please reply with real life experiences that have happened to you when you played this game. You’ll be helping a lot. Thank you.

hell no
1507 says
I watched Sam golbach do this and it was crazy. I love watching his scary videos. My favorites are the midnight man game and the one man hide and seek one. I will NEVR play this game but I will watch other people do it. It sounds so interesting and scary!
Zola Kaitlin woods says
Will it still work if there is still some lights on in the house?
Lily says
What is the POINT of doing this? I get scared of people bumping into me.
Magic Kingdom Snake says
Could you put a line of salt in FRONT of the door you summon the Midnight Man in?
Taylor says
I have a question. Although I am not performing the ritual, am I in danger if I watch somebody else perform it over a camera/screen?
Magic Kingdom Snake says
Nope. You just have to be on-premises or actively participating to be in danger.
Or so I hope.
Someone says
Is it possible to trap the Midnight Man in a circle of salt by leaving a gap and then finishing it if you see him?
Ari says
What if I were to play with my older brother and my dog is in the house with us? Will it be dangerous for my dog or no? Also, would it be safe to leave my front porch light on? Or does every single light attached to my house have to be off?
Wisteria says
Every light should be turned off. You don’t want any light seeping in through a crack or window.
As for your dog, DO NOT HAVE HIM IN THE HOUSE WHILE PLAYING. The mm goes for the mot vulnerable targets first, and your dig might anger him by trying to defend you.
Madi says
I played this game when I was younger with four of my friends. It was really creepy. Luckily, I never noticed too much out of the ordinary after we finished it. But its definitely a game I won’t be playing again.
Chloe says
What will happen if you play the ouija board during this game?
Rhiannon says
I would not recommend it as you have already summoned an evil entity. As the Oija board also summons entities, you never know if it is good or evil, and thus if you pulled yourself into deeper danger.
Jay says
If you’re in the salt circle can you go to sleep?
Michael Baker says
No, to sleep in or to leave the salt circle breaks the protective charm. If you do fall asleep and you’re lucky, you’ll only get vivid hallucinations. If you aren’t lucky, well, my condolences to your family.
Yunie says
No it is breaking the rules.
Mark says
Ok so I played. My salt circle was big I made like a doorway so the MM could get in. When he came in I jumped out and closed off the circle with more salt. Now he is trapped in the circle and I don’t know what to do with him. He’s just sitting there looking at his watch.
David says
We tryed at my home it’s BIG so he had trouble finding us. It was easy at first when the candle went out that scared us so we both made salt circles and waited it out after about 3:40 Am my friend said that he would turning it on he ran as fast as he could.
David says
Me and my friend will be DOING this game wish us luck will need it.
Jane says
What happened?
Riliane says
It is said that the Midnight Man won’t leave for good after game is over. But will he just stay in my home and not bother me whenever I am at another place or will he follow me wherever I go, no matter where we played the game? Can I play at a friend’s house and then safely assume that I will be fine once I’m back in my own home? Or will the Midnight Man follow me there because I have played his game?
Arunanshu Shekhar Kuar says
If you invited him for this game and if you only run away, then he will surely follow you. He won’t leave until the game is over.
vikky says
I played this game following all the rules. it was damn scary and uncomfortable but I think the Mm didn’t got into my house
and truly im saying this game doesn’t work
SkareKrow416 says
My wife and I was considering playing this but then a thought came to me. We live in a basement apartment of a triplex. If we played in our apartment would the rest of the building also be affected? We really dont feel like endangering our neighbors well being.
Jearvi says
Yes. Others will be in danger.
Beth says
What happens if you are not able to re-light your candle in ten seconds and you are not able to create a salt circle? Also, If you are successful at creating the salt circle what happens if you leave the circle to early? (Before 3.33am)
Skeptic says
Silly goose if you did that the Midnight Man would catch you and you would die.
Aarushi says
if you leave too early, then another salt circle will NOT work. you must have enough salt with you to create a full circle, and you must stay INSIDE until 3:33 a.m. Otherwise… you are open to the Midnight Man. He will come. He may kill you, he may haunt you, he may give you nightmares, visions, whatever.
You would be lucky to survive through. If you do, play it again, and this time finish it fully, no cheating.
Anonymous says
I played this game yesterday and i severely hurt my arm wil nail marks..damn i wont ever play this game.and would love to prescribe not to….even when i was inside the salt circle..i got hurt badly in my right arm..and i got nightmares till 4am..and in the nightmare..he said that he will come again…i dont know what to do…please help me..
ash says
okay try to calm down. consider yourself lucky. so it sounds like you slept in the salt circle, correct? you weren’t supposed to do that. he probably came into the salt circle and caused you to hallucinate and gave you those marks. if you played this in YOUR HOUSE he’ll definitely come again soon. so here’s what i would do. this isn’t full proof and i’m no where near an expert with paranormal stuff. i’d draw a salt circle around your bed every night. definitely be in bed by 12. draw salt lines in front of your door, your windows, your vents, everything that provides and enterance for him. that’s pretty much all you can do.
Rhiannon says
What if my candle burns all the way down and there’s no more wax, and I find myself physically unable to keep it lit? Also, what if there’s someone in the house who didn’t do the invitation? Are they any safer or less safe than those that did?
TheWiccanBitch says
Make salt circle immediately. Those who aren’t playing aren’t any safer than those who are playing.
chloe says
I suggest you buy a new candle before playing with satan
Rhiannon says
Can the midnight man visit again that night?
TheWiccanBitch says
Yes.
Rhiannon says
If I already have a cut on my finger/ anywhere else that occasionally bleeds, can I use blood from that cut? Or do I have to draw it fresh? Furthermore, would anything horrible happen if I started bleeding during the ritual? Like, if I had a fresh cut on my knee that started bleeding, would the Midnight Man… I don’t know… use his demon sniffing skills to smell the blood?
abe2202 says
One of the Questions in the FAQ says that making a salt circle before the game and then entering it wont work. But if i make a salt circle and leave a gap to then enter the circle and fill up the gap, is this method gonna work?
Rhiannon says
I mean, theoretically, but remember that leaving an opening could allow the Midnight Man to enter your salt circle while you aren’t there and then wait for you. If he does this, you’d effectively be trapped.
abe2202 says
If i enter a room with only one exit and then see the midnight man’s figure standing right in the door way once i wanna get out of the room…am I basically forced to use the salt???
AbeFilmMuncher says
What if I use a candle with 3 wicks, is it allowed?
AbeFilmMuncher says
What would happen if i (politely) speak to the midnight man when seeing a black figure in the dark? will he get upset, or is nothing going to happen at all?
fangirl_screaming says
i… don’t think that’s a good idea. interacting with otherworldly beings by inviting them to your house is already pretty dangerous. you would be pumping the danger factor up. also i don’t think midnight man would be a chatty demon, given the fact that he’s most probably going to haunt you/harm you even after the game is finished.
AbeFilmMuncher says
When inside of the circle of salt, can the midnight man attempt to scare us out of it by coming close to us or something like that? Does any one know how many seconds we have to make the salt circle after the first 10 seconds given to relight the candle?
lilmootncj says
What would happen if you pissed off the midnight man? Would I live to tell the story, or would my body just tell it for me?
ash says
i suggest that you DON’T but if you did it in a salt circle you’d be fine, i think he’d make frequent return visits though. if you weren’t in a salt circle when you taunted him… you should get in one.
ash says
i personally would never ever EVER play this game, but i find it extremely interesting and have a few questions.
why can’t you hide from him like in other games such as one man hide and go seek?
what if you enter a room with only one exit, feel a temperature drop and see him standing in the doorway? you can’t leave or else you’ll run right into him and i’m guessing if he sees you right there he’s already going to be walking towards you. so i guess your only option is to just immediately make a salt circle?
my final question is a little messed up and scary but, playing two of these type of games at the same time? the midnight game and let’s say one man hide and go seek (because that’s what i used earlier) or if you were playing another game/ritual and the midnight man decided to pay you a little visit?
unamari says
*cough* so i have some simple and very good ways to avoid the him and some helpful ideas that might work.
1. Use a bag, so you don’t have to cary everything in your hands and make it difficult.
2. Allways know where everthing is and how it my move and where it could be
You might here things move, so keep this in mind
3. Make sure of your salt, you don’t want to mistake it for pepper.
4. Ceep all knives, wepons and any other source of things that could be harmful out of the house or locked away securely.
5. Maybe, keep a item like a cross, cross neckless or bible with you, it may help you avoid the the man cuz of the Jesus symbol or mark.
6. Have yourself start in either your own room or a room not in a corner, it may help you get started better when your in the middle of the house.
7. In the salt circle, sit down then close your eyes, then have your hands together, pointer fingers up and facing each other and your thumbs crossing each other, this a motion that tels the man your not afraid, also your eyes with be closed for focus and happy thoughts.
8. Have all machines or noise makers OFF, it well help you notice more things and avoiding him will be easier.
9. Given a thought, you will need to wear some easier clothing, shorts, or if your a girl you also can wear a skirt or dress, short sleave shirt, no stringd shoes! Wear something else you can easily run or walk in, if you have long hair i suggest you put it up or wear something so your hair doesn’t get in your face.
10. DO NOT, repeat DO NOT have anything like dolls, puppets or simply nothing that could possibly be possessable, it might break your chance of serviving. (Its a Tip, you don’t have to)
11. I suggest you play with others, i will ease your fear and if someone screams or dies first, you will immediately know that you will need to keep an eye out, plus i also suggest you play with people who are older then 10, getting children into this is bad.
12. Last one, before you stop the game… hold the cross in your hand while you blow out the candle, then give a sighn to other players (if) to turn on the light in their room, then slowly pray in a circle of salt to blow away any evil, aspecialy if the mednight man is still there, this will help you alot to end it, burn the paper and spread all the ashes, then say “goodbye, demons of the hell” you don’t have to say that, but i might just help ending it more, then find all your friend! If any of them ar missing, look for them immediately but if you can’t find them or you find them dead/unconscious, proceed with a pray or run out of the house after you know you have everyone thats alive.
Have all players equip an item from their childhood or church
*wood cross
*bible
*ashes from a family member who has passed away
*a picture of you, and friends/family
*feather
If you are alone, please have the following:
*a small carry bag.
*a god/jesus sybmol or item
*bandages (in case of a blood cut)
*and, if you have doors that lock keep all your keys with you.
If these helped in any way, its no problem
And if these did not help, im very sorry.
Have a good day/afternoon/night.
Morgan says
These are quite good, but I doubt that Christian symbols will work as this is a Pagan ritual.
Mark says
It depends on your belief system. If you are a Christian it would help, if not then the objects would do nothing. Perhaps if you had one “charged” by someone of great faith it could help, but I wouldn’t count on it too much. Ultimately it doesn’t matter about the semantics of the religion, but what is in your heart…. theoretically
A Random Person says
The movie?
Thrillseeker says
I will play this game, but I don’t want to play it in my own home, or my friend’s home (who is going to play with me). Can we play in a house of another friend who let us play there?
So is it possible to play the game without the owner of the house being a player, or would he have to play too?
Boogeyman says
What should I do if my candle burns down? Should I wait until it completely burns down, or when I see that it is small, just light another one?
Jack says
What if you did it in a hotel?
Insane Lucy says
Don’t do it in a hotel! I did it in a hotel with 2 friends and nobody knew but in the middle of the game my religion teacher(who was sleeping) scream and the top of her lungs and she had a large gash in her hand
Em says
Does the wooden door have to be your front door our can it be my bedroom or bathroom door. ( cause my front door isn’t wooden)
Kasai says
What if you make a circle of both salt and pepper?
Courtney says
Do I have to use regular salt or can I use Epsom Salts?
Julia says
Okay, so everyone in the house is participating whether they choose to or not once the ritual starts but it also states that extra players should also do the invitation thing with the blood and the paper. Would there be consequences for extra people who DIDN’T invite the Midnight Man but played anyway as long as one person did it? I mean, if you get invited to someone’s house you don’t usually get invitations from everyone who will be there.
ZelDronpa says
This is a game, not a party. In the past, you must get an invitation from your friend to play with them. Its the same case here.Basically, you’re just tagging along with your friends and you’re a bystander. And a bystander in a life-or-death game always comes bad
NightmareNerd says
What if you moved out of the house after or before the ritual?
Beanie says
I don’t normally mess with this sort of stuff but ever since I first found out about it i’ve been really really attached. Like I felt a pulling towards wanting to do this and I don’t know what that means. I’m also a christian so it’s even creepier. Anyone know what this could mean??
Let me Try! says
It is most likely you are just curious or interested in whether it is true or not.
Aadi says
If your salt circle is big enough, con you sleep in it?
ZelDronpa says
Never sleep in one, even if it were big.
Shyla says
What happens if you put someone else’s full name, and their blood on it, but they aren’t there?
ZelDronpa says
The Midnight Man will chase them
edden says
I don’t think it’s a game there are 4 ways he can get you
1. cheating
2. if you give up
3. if you break a rule
4. if you lose
and it is a rule to not fall asleep
Jassy says
Do you think people who regularly encounter the supernatural (Spirits) should play these games?
ZelDronpa says
Never. in fact, NO ONE should play this game. Unless, you’re a fan of letting your life on the line for a thrill.
RD says
What if you slept inside the salt circle mid-game?
Kuba says
This is a weird question but if I played with four friends and one slept or broke any of the rules would we all die or just him?
CeruleanSoul says
I’ve never heard of the year of luck before. In my opinion, I’d rather keep my year the way it is instead of risking dying for luck, but hey, that’s just me XDD
To answer your second question, I’d say it would be a draw, but at least you still get to live.
And to answer your third question, I remember reading on a few rituals similar to this to put a line of salt in each doorway and possibly windows too the day after, to hopefully keep anything from re-entering your home.
But, seriously, I highly recommend nobody try any of these rituals, for your own safety. And, as the author says, if you must, please use every precaution, and stay as safe as possible.
Poderx says
are there any rules against INRV might vision gogles?
ZelDronpa says
Night Vision Googles (NVG i’ll call them)? Really? We are dealing with something supernatural, not something that you can’t see in the dark. NVG are pointless, even if it is not breaking the rules.
Noot says
What if I live in an apartment complex? Will the game continue past the part of the building that I live in? I don’t want to endanger the rest of the building.
ZelDronpa says
If you play this game in an apartment complex then… there is a lot of people going to suffer, as the game involve the whole building, not a room
Deadly Kitty says
Yeah man. If you wanna play this, play at a friend’s HOUSE. H-O-U-S-E. You do not want to endanger anyone else in the building, especially kids and animals. It’s just a really bad idea to play this altogether.
Wolf123 says
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS TINY DONT DO THIS IS AN APARTMENT!
LomeComa says
What if you dont attempt to relight the candle and just go straight for the salt? Will that work?
Hi says
Yes
Koley says
1. the year of luck is not true.
2. i am not so sure on the part.
3. performing an exorcism and wearing a protective charm can help but you will need to renew both every couple of year. circle your house and every entryway of the house with holy water and bury a glass bottle of nails and salt in you yard. all of these are protective charms that have helped me in the past on keeping away ghosts and demons.
Sjoerd Soest says
I read somewhere that when won you recive a year of luck, but i cannot find it anymore now.
any thoughts on that?
2nd question, if you stay in the salt cirkle you wont win, but he wont eather? is it a draw or something?
3th when the game is over how to take care not to be botherd anymore?
Boogeyman says
1: I think what you are talking about is the Man On The Fields ritual. About the prize: “If you successfully complete the ritual, you will be completely safe for one calendar year; however, what you are safe from will depend on when you began the ritual”. You should check that out. (But there are a lot of rituals with prizes.)
2: Kinda.
3: Im not an expert or anything but I think maybe cleansing?
A WAY TO "ABORT" THE RITUAL says
(Note: This is highly spiritual, figurative, and literal, and you may not agree with this) Leaving (I emphasize leaving, not aborting) the ritual is simple: Believe that Christ Jesus died on the cross for your sins, taking the old you and “replacing” himself with you. Many, many good things happen at that moment and later on if you choose walk with Christ (starting with reading the Bible), but only if you believe. As a way to explain what’s happen, Christ becomes your replacement in the ritual and you “become” him, meaning you aren’t apart of the ritual anymore. (Now, after you receive Christ, I heavily recommend you start reading Bible verses on finding a church anointed and reading verses about comfort. You’ll need it.)
AAAAAA says
Thus I can critize thou.
-This is a pagan ritual.
Someone says
The idea of it being a pagan ritual is really just an unsupported theory. This could be an old christian rite for all we know, though it’s more likely just a spooky urban legend.
Luna says
Do we HAVE to prick our finger, or just cut a random part of our skin to draw blood??
Koley says
as long as you get a drop of blood it should work but the pricking is the safest way to do it.
Kasai says
Can it be like older blood that you got Idk a week back? ?
Deadly Kitty says
Nope. The blood needs to be fresh.
CreepyPasta_Girl says
Okay, so my friend wants to play this game and wants me to play with her. This is my first time hearing about this and I thought it was like a hide-and-go-seek. But after reading everything, its kinda confusing because it’s like your hiding..but your not. Like hiding in plain sight. I did have a question though… would it be safe to wear a watch during this? And another question is… if you were in the salt circle or still walking about with your candle and it was 3:33am and befuddled if it was safe to leave the circle or turn on the lights, could you wait until 4am before leaving and turning on the lights and all that stuff??? Sorry if it’s a(n) idiotic question. But I would like a preferred answer 😀
Koley says
The game ends at 3:33 am. the midnight man has to leave at that time. (though not completely. he can still end up haunting you). you can wear anything that you are comfortable in. once you are in the salt circle, do not leave. the salt circle is a protective charm and when you step out the charm is broken and so you are no longer protected. making another one will not help.
Israel Miranda says
Cause 3:33 is the bewitching hour if you believe in that stuff cause I do
Deadly Kitty says
The game ends at 3:33. But you could wait to leave the circle until 4:00. The hour between 3 and 4 is the bewitching hour, after all…
Liz says
tried it alone. my friend was too afraid to do it with me. i blew out the candle on my own and just stood there. nothing happened unfortunately. i slept like a baby.
MNG says
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME, IF YOU LOVE YOUR LIFE
Mars says
Did you play? Can you describe what happened? I’m writing a paper on it and it would really help if you did XD
Jamil says
I agree with you, I am also scared but do not believe all this true, just fantasy
No name says
Useful information
ELena says
Omg I had vision of me being alone in the woods it still haunts me to this day I lost the game .
TheCleverMidnightMan says
Fun fact: If you sleep during the game you are likely to get “Sleep Paralysis” When you wake up. This means you will not be able to move, even when your body is awake. Your eyes will be closed, but you will feel the presence of several ghosts around you. If you wanna sleep during the game, simply coat yourself, and the room you are in, with salt and pepper.
Deadly Kitty says
Not pepper, though. That would only weaken the salt.
Sweet Tender Flesh says
Can you summon monsters like this by thinking about it too much?
Koley says
No you can’t.
LomeCome says
Relax, you can think about it as much as you please as long as you dont actually preform the ritual, then your screwed. Thats like saying nuclear war will happen just because one thought about it too much. Your good as long as you dont actually preform the summoning
Tsuuki says
Okay good, cause there was this other thing i almost had nightmares from when going to sleep cause it made you go somewhere before bed, and I was just thinking about it too much, and the next day I was okay, but I didnt like the thought of it. Btw I was dieing of thinking of the Elevator Game
Daniel says
Wow I was almost thinking the same thing
Deadly Kitty says
Nope. That is pretty much impossible. I think about stuff like these “games” all the time, and so far, no monsters. No monsters,no ghosts,no demons, and no evil. You’re completely and totally safe as long as you don’t perform the ritual. Only then are you screwed.
Sjjmj28 says
I survived the night but barely, do not do this I repeat do not do this.
Danger, Will Wheaton! says
If I fill hula hoops with salt beforehand, could I throw one over my head and be considered safe?
Koley says
DO NOT DO THAT!! it corrupts that salt and it will no longer have the protective properties.
A Random Person says
Guess so. You’d just have to fill the hula hoops with salt and let NO AIR HOLES (in the hula hoop) be present.
Logan says
DO NOT number 5
what if I did use someone else’s blood? could I use the blood and name of someone I hate to give them horrific hallucinations or possibly kill them?
Koley says
i am not sure what would happen but since it is listed as a “do not” there must be unwanted consequences for the person who attempts to use the wrong blood and name.
Deadly Kitty says
DO NOT DO THAT!!LIKE, EVER!!!! The MM might come and kill you if you did that. If he went after that person though, you would more than likely be charged for murder.
Jackie says
Maybe you should do this ritual when you know no one is going to come knocking on your door to surprise you. Even better, don’t attempt this ritual. I have a question for you all, why do you want to play this ritual, are you curious of what might happen? What is it, because I cannot come to terms with it. Me being a person who wants to try everything wouldn’t even attempt to do this, maybe I’m too scared, haha.
Has says
Suppose for example I attempted to play the game then somebody walks in through the wooden door I chose. What happens? I live on my own and sometimes my parents pay me surprise visits and I obviously don’t want them to get hurt in the process….
minionliver says
I have one doubt.. What will happen if we leave the house in middle of the game or turn on the lights and go to sleep in between?? Escpecially when we leave the house can anyone clear this doubt
Hello says
If you leave the house during the game the Midnight Man will supposedly take over your house and make it his own. Turning on lights during the game will provoke the Midnight Man which may result in him attacking you. If you sleep during the game since it requires you to be moving around then the Midnight Man will find you and attack you. Hope this was helpful 🙂
Katie says
You don’t want to. Believe me, I played it and it was the scariest experience ever. My friend was shouting and screaming when we were in the circle at 3:32, because she said she saw him. Apparently he told her to get outta the house. I guess he wanted to trick us… I pulled her in like NO. I will never mess with this paranormal crap again. I recommend you don’t either. She almost got out and I swear I heard a whisper saying… I will tear you… I will kill you…
Deadly Kitty says
Good for you Katie. Honestly, the only paranormal crap I will mess with is Oujia Board, One Man Hide & Seek, & Concentrate. Leave me out of the rest.
Koley says
the ritual will be interrupted and there for is invalid. but it could cause unwanted consequences, so avoid that situation if you can.
Kiwi says
I doubt your parents would go over to you at midnigt/ in the time between midnight and 3:33. Also I don’t think they’d be involved in the process if they entered whilst, though they might put you in danger.
Ismael says
You can only play it 12am – 3:33am so do your parents visit that late? If so, just tell them to not come at that time.
Hana says
This is an odd question and I apologize if no one knows the answer. Every set of instructions I read says the front door must be wooden. I have a wooden front door; but there’s a window taking up half of it. Does that still count, or must it be entirely wooden?
Koley says
the door would not work. you have to be in a room where not natural light is able to come into to start the game.
Miyuki says
As long as the door itself is made of wood you’re good
hi says
no windows allowed. sorry.
HeavenHood says
OMG don’t be scared when I come up on the news dead cause yall already will know why I died. LOL jk
Allen says
What if there are people sleeping without playing the game
Koley says
They are not part of the game and will be left unaffected. Only those who perform the ritual and invite him are part of the game.
Wolf123 says
Wrong. Whoever is in the house is playing against their will.
Deadly Kitty says
Yup. Whoever is on the premises must play even if they do not want to. Its just a bad idea to play this all together.
Joyce Raines says
So what if someone in my apartment building starts playing does that mean I have to play to? Or just the people in that apartment?
Koke says
You must also play. If you are in the same building as the Midnight Man, he will also hunt you down. This is also another reason I do not want to live in an apartment. However, he will not be able to go outside of the building. I’m techincally safe, even though I live in what some would call an apartment. To traverse to another house in my complex, you have to go outside. So I am safe even if someone plays it in another house inside my complex. It’s still accepted by others as an apartment, though.
M. Langdon says
Good question. This could go either way. Or he assumes that the apartment itself is the whole playing field, or the whole building. Remember: you are dealing with an entity. You don’t know what it might do.
Daria says
That is a good ass question… Or what if someone walks in the house and cuts the lights on
Ismael says
So you have friends or family who come over 12:00am – 3:33am ?
Sehena Falconi says
Salt is said to ward off evil spirits and, if I’m not mistaken, is used in many protection spells. Pepper is used mainly for banishing. I’d stock up on both before I attempted this ritual. That way I could protect myself during the game and then banish the entity from my home/life afterwards.
breanna da banana says
It said that you win by staying alive or Not being trapped in your salt circle. If you are trapped in your salt circle until 3:33 am will u still live?
Jojo says
Question, what if you were you to take it to the next level? Can you play till 4:44?
Ismael says
No, there are no other levels. There is only one game and one version of it.
Kuudere San says
Yes, you will still live, but since the Midnight Man has found you, the Midnight Man has won even though he cannot harm you when you’re in the salt circle.
cj says
can you create several salt circles before the game? then run to the closest as needed? What about an uninvolved observer, will it work if someone follows you around whos not in the game? or if there just in the house?
Koley says
Once a circle is made you have to stay in it, else the protective charm is broken so making them before hand would not work. Thought if you make uncompleted ones and finish which ever one you end up in at that time it may work. But i would not recommend doing so because it can invite unwanted beings into the circle.
Rocío says
If my friends play the game and I’m in the same house can I make a salt circle before even starting the game and just stay there on my phone the whole time?
Victoria says
If you aren’t playing the game then you don’t have to follow around the candle holder but you can be affected by the MM. Being in a salt circle should keep you safe but you must stay inside it and you can’t break any of the rules.
Lol says
Does this mean that if you could invite him (unintentionally )into the salt circle and then you leave, you could potentially trap the midnight man?
Miyuki says
NO if they are in the house they have to play if not they have to leave because the MM is a demon and will not hesitate to go after easy prey
ParanormalHappens says
the midnight man might think of that as cheating tho
Kennadi says
Not true he likes to cheat his way through the game. The man doesn’t like to lose. He finds different ways to ruin the circle you are standing it without physically doing it so you are exposed.
Ben_drowned says
dear lord
Shannon says
I’m so curious to find out what happens if youd disobey one of the DO NOT and I need a volunteer anyone wanna play midnight man with me tell me in the comments!
ZelDronpa says
I don’t think anyone want to volunteer. And if there is one, I don’t think he/she might have a chance to tell you, so yeah. If you are curious though, remove it quickly.
Ace says
i volunteer as tribute
Maddie says
TRIBUTE
Antonio Kelley says
I have a question about the Midnight Man. Does he actually exist because it all seems fake and made up to me. Seems like parents wanted something to scare the children into listening to them.
Ambrosia says
I am 15 years old. My name is ambrosia. I played the midnight game back in September. It’s. Now November and things are getting weird. My friend and I played this game in her apartment. Many strange things happened during the game. For example we heard beads rolling behind us during and loud bangs after. We did break the rules. Here’s a list of all the thins we did wrong
1: we put our names and blood on the same paper.
2: we were two minutes late knocking.
3: I talked about the lord the whole time (unknowingly provoking him).
4: when my candle went out and wouldn’t relight my friend and I got in the salt circle and got on our phones.
I’ve been getting strange scratches lately and last night oitnof nowhere my heart rate went up very high and I could barely breath. Please pray for me.
RavenclawGirl03 says
Okay, so you broke several rules. That means the MM is haunting you. So the only way to get him out of your house, is to play the game again. DO NOT get in a salt circle, unless your candle blows out for ten seconds. If you go in salt circle, then you will have to play the game again.
Deadly Kitty says
I would have to agree. The rules state you would have to play the game again if weird things are happening. And you have to do it over and over again until the strangeness stops. COMPLETELY. That’s why you should never ever ever play “games” like this.
Someone says
I think the summoning didn’t work as you were 2 mins late.
Lianna says
I’m praying for you and your friend.
Emmy says
Let’s play
gerald says
me
xXT0xic_W0lfXx says
Sam Golbach did it he ended it early on his YouTube he started throwing up blood and haveing bloody noses
jenna says
Yea, he ended the game early and weird stuff started happening. His dog would just bark at his room/door, and his pictures/paintings were falling. so everyone had to play again. but the bloody nose was just a coincidence he was saying. but overall it was weird.
Grace says
I will
Lilith666 says
I will
Trinity wood says
So me and my friend played the game and got rlly scared and turned on the lights nothing has happened so far :/ i honestly don’t think it’s real
Soibi n mather says
What if we can’t get the candle to light in 10 seconds and we’re in the salt circle and relight the candle. Clear the salt and start over?
drake says
no do not leave the circle until the game ends.
Ben_drowned says
i think so
TomboyxGirl says
The Midnight Man cannot harm you while in the circle of salt. You must remain in the circle of salt until 3:33 a.m.
Bobbyjo says
It will not count if you relight the candle after the ten seconds are finished, if you haven’t re-lit the candle in ten seconds, the salt circle is your only defense
Linivier says
Hey. What if we’re in the salt circle and can’t move and we see a figure, hear voices or experience sudden drops in temperature??
Phantom007 says
still, it will give you safety by standing inside it, he can’t harm you while inside it 😉
Bread is life says
What if you sit down in the salt circle?🤔
Bossayna Mohamed Saleh says
then in that case there’s a presence there stay aware
Puppet Dreemurr says
He can’t get you your safe in the salt circle it’s your only defense now
Darren says
They said in the movie he cheats
Mark says
He does, however, entities can not (or atleast should not) be capable of getting through a ring of salt. It’s not a rule in the game, as much as it a physical barrier that is nearly universal.
Supernatural Animal says
I’ve played many paranormal games and The Midnight Man is by far the scariest. Other games are:
One man hide and seek
The little finger
The thumb game
Charlie charlie
Three kings
The mirror game
All of these games are and dangerous. The little finger has to happen in your dream.
Cas says
I have no idea of how to abort but I think it would be blowing out your candle and turning on the lights, then doing a purification ritual or cleansing ritual like spreading salt, and destroying the materials used, tear up and burn the paper (spread the ashes so the MM can’t use it anymore) use up the candle, the salt used to purify or cleanse, discard your writing material and toss the pin. Lighter and matches used up. I don’t know if it works but seeing that in candle rituals, blowing it out and turning on the lights seems to end the ritual or abort it most of the time, and very few games here use cleansing at the end but it’s a stay safe thing assuming that the MM isn’t going to be out forever.
Basil says
I don’t think blowing out the candle and turning on the light’s would even work. This is a game of hunter and hunted inside of a confined space and that would only serve to anger the Man; it would be more effective to blow out the candle and create a circle of salt before waiting it out. And if playing as a group and all decide to end the game together, all should be in the same room and blow out the candle, create a circle of salt, and sit and wait together. Or all of them work together to create a large enough circle that everyone may be together inside. In the case of intentional abort through this fashion, it probably would not matter if you blew out the candle or not. Just do not turn on the lights. It is bolded in the text to not turn on any lights. And furthermore, it also states that you should not assume that after the game is over, that the Man has left for good. So I think that goes double after provoking him by turning on a light, he may continue to terrorize you or the other player(s).
ruby medina says
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME!!!
Dylan says
You are a genius. Thank you. But my friend is still going to play the game because he is an idiot
Aleina Hansen says
So am I I’m for sure playing it and I mean I’m not scared just a bit nervous but I’m also not gonna lie I am extremely stupid for doing it. This is going to be my third time doing this so far
Kylie says
Oof. I’m still going to play this game. I like scary games. I played Don’t look behind you. Wasn’t that scary but a little scary because you could feel breathing on your neck.
Natalie says

I did a quiz to see what ritual to do. it said the midnight man. he probably did the same quiz. I am gonna do it.
Rebecca says
How did it go?

poor thing, please, smack some sense into him. (if ya didn’ already. it’s already been 3 years…)
Mayrin says
too late, me and some friends played it on one of our birthdays. it was for my friend addy’s , she was born on the 6th month on the 6th day of 2006. so we played it, we didn’t complate it though. addy ended up moving out of the home with her family. i haven’t seen her since and have no clue if the MM is after us. I ended up moving too, mainly because my mother hated that our home was also the home to others? is that how i should put it. anyway me and some friends from my new school are having a sleepover at one of their houses on all hollows eve. I know that we will be playing some sort of scary game, but i don’t know what( I myself have a broken foot and is on crutches, this may end badly)
Ava says
Yeah, I played it too. I made the mistake of playing it by myself , and at first it wasn’t as scary as people made it sound, but aft I started the ritual my piano started playing, and I glass on our counter shattered and broke , and my candle blew out so many times. The worst part was that at the end something cut my leg and I turned a light on. Now , I have to play it again , and I don’t want to. But everyday things keep happening to me, like my body tempature drops when it’s hot. My cat has been freaking out , and everytime I come home she’s meowing like crazy. I wouldn’t recommend this game , especially if you under the age of 18 like me
Angel~♡ says
💀😂💀
Kat says
Why, did it work for you? If so, then what happened?
Alexis says
Why not, nothing happened when I played.
Myah says
can you tell me what happened? me and my friends are having problems after they played. and we have been experiencing bad things. very bad things
Midge Anne Scott says
I don’t think any of us will. Except if they really feel like it.
RavenclawGirl03 says
You are definitely right. I played this game, we ended the game early, and my house was haunted for the next week. I read that the only way to rid him of your house, is to finish the game. It is true what is said above. There are NO known methods to abort this game, other than waiting until 3:33
Maisie says
No other way

I have an question, I live with 1 dog and 2 parrots. Are they safe when the midnight man is still in my home? I’m not planning of playing this But I been seeing this quite often.
Jake says
The only players affected are the ones that have written their names on paper and done the other things. Your pets will be fine.
Dave says
No anyone who is in the house whether they are playing or not can be affected by the midnight man. ex. if you are playing and roommate is sleeping they are still potentially at risk
Kylie says
Thank god.
Carlos medina says
At what time for the 22 Knocks is best for ?
B says
but what about other humans that are not playing, such as family?
Haliegh Bussard says
If you watched the videos by Sam Golbach, he explains the game in further detail and also says and human person in the house while playing the game is a participant, even if they don’t do the blood on the paper and the invitation.
Aubrey Brummer says
That’s not true. Animals are safe, but if anyone else is in the house that is human they are also in danger. I played this game at a sleepover . We thought that it would just affect us but her sister was in the house. We heard her screaming. She said that someone was hurting her. That they were choking her and drowning her in crickets. She is terrified of crickets. So do not play if there are other people in the house because the midnight man can and will get them.
wyatt says
actually I saw that even people who don’t write their name and put blood but are still in the house also are affected, just not sure if it affects animals, although it could since there are many rituals in which animals in general are used as sacrifice, but I’m not for sure
Mark Abboud says
Honestly, I don’t think pets would be safe. The dog would definitely not be safe because of how it would react. I’ve read other people’s attempts at this, and The Midnight Man would go after the pets. Mostly he goes after dogs and cats, but I wouldn’t guarantee the parrots would be safe. If you attempt this, remove all pets from the premises.
Lilla says
Okay, so I have done this before but I was alone. So I have a question if there are family members and pets in the house, couldn’t you just put a circle with salt around them, if it would protect you can it protect them too? This is not the smartest idea to do but I am going to just sit and wait, I am not scared or nervous, I am a Wiccan ( I have been for about 5 years now, mind you I am only 17) so I do a lot of different things I know it is dangerous but we have to find out if the Organ plucking by 1 thing is real. If nothing happens I will type back.
Faith Fonner says
If you watched one of the next videos Sam Golbach posted, he said after he played the game (which he ended early by blowing out the candle and turning on the lights) One of the dogs, I think circa, kept barking at his door at might when he was gone.
Xavier says
As a pagan Wiccan, we used this for Samhain (halloween) you’re supposed to knock 24 times, for every hour. The midnight man is believed to be Charon or Hades. 🙂
Luna says
There is no way to stop the game after it starts, the only way to end the game is to keep on playing until 3:33.
Maha Shafiq says
What happens if you turn the lights on and blow out your candels before 3:33 am?
Madison Gayle Holderbaum says
He won’t leave. You’ll have to play it again. (If by any means you had ANYBODY in the house they have to play, too.)
Cheyanne says
Not everyone in the house has to play. They do have to be awake though. Any sleeping people in the house must be moved or awoken or they will become immediate targets. Anyone not playing still has to follow the group of players or they have to stay in a salt ring for safety. The person not playing usually remains safe but they are able to receive hallucinations and severe migraines.
LunarEcliplse_Says says
If you stop the game before 3:33, its said that the punishment he gives can be things like taking your organs or haunting your dreams and house for ages. He can do things like the YouTuber ‘Sam Golbach’, Who played the game and ended it to early. But the punishment of ‘taking your organs one by one’ sounds like a myth, but i would not trust it. DON’T TAKE THE RISK IF YOU ARE PLAYING IT. DON’T BREAK THE RULES. DON’T ANGER HIM, HE HATES BEING TOYED WITH.
Chloe says
What if you were to play in like an apartment or something? Could he trap you in a room or can you walk out?
zykea says
to be honest chloe, I wouldn’t play it in a small house or apartment at all. I mean how are you going to hide?
unknown says
I was playing and my dog was in the house and he was fine, so was my cat, nothing has happened to them. Me and my friends on the other hand were like scared but not really, we felt a presence but we didn’t really care. But my house’s glass windows shattered not at once but every once and a while. Just don’t leave people or leave them, stick TOGHETHER, anyone who is left alone is a target. We actually had a dream or whatever during the game that my friend was doubled and both of them died. We all had the dream or flashback, even the victim, we’re scared, what should we do!!!!?
Kayla says
Honestly, you would probably not finish the game correctly. If the rules are broken, he can still find you. No matter what you do, stopping the game early is the worst thing to do.
Kat says
Zykea, I think that if you played it in a hotel or apartment, there is still other rooms or places that you could go to, so it might work. I was planning to do it with my friends at a hotel, and if we did, we would be able to stay in the room, we would have to move around, but either way you can still probably do it.
Nobody says
You have to play it again, trust me. I played it once and turned on the lights. That was my biggest mistake ever. He continued to haunt my house until me and my friends finally decided to play it again for my sake. Please please please don’t play with family or others in the house, it was hard enough explaining they had to do it. Just don’t do a salt circle either, because you’ll have to play AGAIN, just sitting there doesn’t help, it’ll anger him into staying.
Alexis says
Check a video by Sam Golbach. He played, left the game early and then a week later, Sam’s roomate’s dog was found barking at Sam’s door at 3 am.
Ethan Hallock says
That is fricken scary dude, why would any one play this?
Midnight Man says
Well its my favorite game
Amber says
who are you? I can’t reach your e-mail.
Nishant Kumar says
Even I can’t reach your email…
Michael Baker says
Why couldn’t I reach your email? Who tf are you?
Lyra Razboinic says
same
Lilith666 says
Woulda been believable if it was posted between 12-3:33am
Estrfanio Baptista says
I’ve played the game with my friends and we actually broke some rules and actually many things went wrong after we broke the rules. WARNING!!!
Anthony says
Yooo, sameeee
Man
Willow says
Me. And my friend Justin.
klkboy12 says
It is said that if you complete this game, you would get a huge amount of fortune for a year
Michael says
ok… do we actually know for sure that the midnight man can remove all your organs 1 by 1? If so… I’m just going to put a circle of salt around me and stand there with a christian cross, garlic, a wooden stake, a knife, a salt shaker, a match, and a candle. I have heard that making the sign of the cross on the floor with your own blood freaks out the MM. If you do this on every door in your house, he will be forced to leave and remain gone for a week, after that week, he has no obligation to play by the rules, so put a circle of salt around your house. I might get a shotgun as well, just to be safe.
Summer says
what would a shotgun do to a demon bro
Jordan says
Mortal weapons don’t work against demons bro.
Ak says
Mortal weapon+salt=demon hunter gun, don’t you guys know
D says
Get some effing holy water
Maddie OwO says
Cool!
Justin says
It would seem to me as though the principle is creating an egregore of themselves during this ritual. The way that the ritual is performed seems to create a negative charge within it.
fya says
I thought I was the only one that felt that just by reading it
Angel says
That is an extremely good idea but knowing the undoubtable stupidity that the most likely teenagers that will try this is have to add MAKE SURE YOU ARE RIGHT NEXT TO A LIGHT SWITCH WHEN YOU BLOW OUT THE CANDLE AND STAY AWAY FROM THE OTHER ROOMS. Don’t even reacheaper in to the light switch because the MM could easily grab you and pull you from the light also put salt on every way out of that room even the window and air ducts because if he can find a way to get in he will
Seth Svitenko says
Yea you might think he is gonna but then you hear weird noises throughout the house you’re in and then you know he’s there
RavenclawGirl03 says
If you were to blow out your candle and turn on the lights, you would still be haunted afterwards. There are NO known methods to abort the game. If you end the game early, the ONLY way to rid the Midnight Man of your home is to play the game again, all the way through, with the same people. Trust me, I have played the game before, and ended the game early. The Midnight Man haunted me. Also, if an un-involved observer is in the house at the time, like if someone was asleep, or if someone didn’t do the ritual, then they would have to play again as well.
Dip says
Did you win next time?
RavenclawGirl03 says
Yes
Rosa says
What happens if you play the game alone?
Michelle says
Are you able to use your phone as a clock while playing this game?
Dave says
yes
blah blah says
yes you can use your phone as a clock just not a light
luke says
No, do not attempt to end the game this way unless you’re sure you have to, this will anger the midnight man and you will have to play again with an angrier demon at hand (it’s the same demon, just angrier).
Kassie says
What if you mess up on the timing and the knocks for the beginning? Is the game still on or will it not work? We messed up and turned on the lights because we think we screwed up the game.
Chen says
I played the game and I heard a noise. I made a HUUUUGE salt circle and stayed in there. Then the lights opened and it was actually my friends.
Aidan Chappell says
What happens if you just put salt around you and start?
Peachtea says
He will not leave your home but he should calm down all though he will continue to provoke and possible hurt and or attack the player/s to get rid of him you must do the ritual again re doing your paper ect. If you fail to end the game successfully keep re doing the ritual until completed right
Ryan says
he will get you for breaking the rules
Chen says
In order to abort you need to get out of your house and stay there until 4:44. Blow out your candle too.
Hi says
Dude you cannot leave the house bc one it’s breaking the rules and he wont leave, and two if u attempt to leave the house u will be knocked out instantly
fya says
that’s not gonna work because that’s considered breaking the rules, but let’s just say that u are able to get out safe and get somewhere else safe and then go back at 4:44 or anytime after 3:33 ur still not safe because for the simple fact that u didn’t end it correctly who is to say that he won’t come back that night or any night for that matter. think about it we all k that saying “when, bad things happen bad things follow”, but good luck tho let me k how it goes.
rianna says
This game seems very dangerous. I recommend no one tries it. Please if you ARE going to do it I pray for you. Stay safe please 🙏🏼
Cayce says
I have survived the midnight game with 10 people. one person made a circle with salt but we waited until 3:34.
Jadequeen says
Not a chance you should take. Just don’t play in the first place?
BABADOOK says
What if there are 3 people in the house but only 2 guys are playing it what will happen to the third guy? Is he safe?
Marina says
No.
Rey says
Maybe if you burn sage?
Jasmine says
I tried to start the game, but I just cannot time the final knock at exactly 12am
Butthole says
Dude, you can’t do that or he stuck with you. No matter how many times you cleanse. You have to have a salt circle around you and wait it out until 3 am.
